with Yoga, Ayurveda, & the Alexander Technique
August 29 to Sept. 3, 2018
It doesn’t matter what age you are, we are constantly working to create more balance in our busy and sometimes overwhelming schedules. Women have a unique place in the world, thus we need to take a unique path that allows us to connect to our True Spirit and its divine nature. This reconnection allows for our most authentic self to unfold and our highest potential to be met.
This retreat will guide you along this path so you can stop acting from a place of uncertainty and learn to honor your authentic self. Only you can be the author of your own life story. Come and start a new chapter!
Join us in beautiful Ojai and experience the magic that this amazing valley holds, the serenity of the Pepper Tree Retreat and how these profound disciplines of Ayurveda, Yoga and the Alexander Technique can transform your life. This 5-day retreat is specially designed to teach you the art of unlearning—letting go of old patterns that have long since lost their usefulness—while also providing precious leisure time which allows these new skills and understandings to become more rooted in your daily life.
We teach Yoga, Ayurveda, and the Alexander Technique in a practical and meaningful way so that when you return home you will have useful tools to keep this new, balanced relationship going—not only within yourself but with everyone around you.

Carol P. Prentice
Carol is a leading expert in the Mind/Body field for over 30 years. She believes that given the right tools, you can heal and transform your own life. Having overcome chronic back pain, depression, and major digestive issues, she knows how powerful these three disciplines can affect your life in a positive way. Carol has also dealt with divorce, raising her two daughters as a single mom, the death of her parents, menopause and how age changes one’s perspective on life. She is passionate about helping women find their inner voice, and create a path to health, grace and living a life of optimal health and joy.
Carol graduated from Alexander Training Institute in San Francisco under the direction of Frank Ottiwell in1986; she furthered her studies with first generation Alexander Teachers Marjorie Barstow, Walter & Dily’s Carrington, and Marjory Barlow. Carol is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist and Pancha Karma Specialist (Ayurveda Body Therapies) and a graduate of the California College of Ayurveda, where she is currently a faculty member. Carol has been a student of yoga since the early 80’s, but it wasn’t until she met Mr.TKV Desikachar in 2009, that she experienced the true healing side of yoga. She is a graduate of the Healing Yoga Foundation in S.F., a 500-hour teacher training program in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya.
As Ayurveda and Yoga are the sister sciences to each other, Carol along with her Alexander training has developed a hands-on approach to working with these 3 systems of learning to help empower people in their own process of healing. Amanda is a yoga teacher who knows firsthand that when we practice and study yoga, the things we do in our everyday life have the potential to be profoundly spiritual. She teaches from personal experience because yoga is the foundation of so many positive shifts in her life.
Amanda leads both small group classes and individuals with clear language, deep listening, and a sense of humor while holding space for each person to have their own experience. Amanda helps the ancient Yogic teachings come to life in ways that are relevant and meaningful for the modern day. She candidly relates yogic concepts to her experiences as a mom, partner, teacher, artist, blogger and encourages her students to do the same. In this way, yoga practice becomes a deeply personal journey and a means to live a fulfilling and purposeful life.
Amanda took her first yoga class in 2001 and has been practicing ever since. After moving from Seattle to Austin in 2010, she enrolled in a Hatha Yoga teacher-training program and soon after completion, she began teaching yoga full-time. Amanda met her teacher and mentor, Chase Bossart, in 2011 and her yoga practice took a turn for a more gentle and therapeutic approach and her yoga study expanded to embrace the broader teachings of yoga.
She has specialized training in yoga as therapy and continues her studies with the exceptional faculty and peers of the YATNA yoga therapy training program. Amanda lives in Austin, TX with her two daughters, husband, and extended family. She paints, dances, and writes about her life and yoga adventures in her weekly blog posts.
